illume candles and diffusers

ILLUME is known for its vibrant home fragrances which have a loyal celebrity following including Madonna, Tricia Yearwood, Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Colin Farrell and Christina Aguilera.

ILLUME candles are crafted from either our natural-wax formulation of soy, palm and beeswax or our food-grade paraffin. Both waxes make very high-quality candles. Although soy is known to have a cleaner burn, the most important factor in a clean-burning candle is a proper cotton- or paper-core wick. ILLUME uses only cotton- and paper-core wicks. We selectively choose from hundreds of different wicks to make sure each Illume candle provides the cleanest burn possible. Our candles are blended with essential oils and contain only lead-free cotton- or paper-core wicks.

Scent Steals!

Brand New and In-Store!

AQUIESSE presents a refreshing culmination of the talents and research by some of the worlds leading perfumers, offered in a large portfolio of balanced, incredibly creative, nature-inspired fragrances. The company originated in Santa Barbara, CA where a young boy began “experimenting” with fragrance by mixing his mothers fine bottles of perfume. While mom was not overly thrilled at the time, this mischievous behavior was seemingly the catalyst to creating one of the most luxurious portfolios of fine home fragrances found anywhere. While the product line offers a wide variety of fragrances, AQUIESSE's original inspiration was found in the diverse range of indigenous scents found throughout the rich coastal region of Central California. Incredible florals, mouth watering fruits & citrus, ocean spray, mountain air and so much more. Candles would be the obvious method of distributing AQUIESSE's fragrances. After researching and experimenting with the finest ingredients from around the world, AQUIESSE decided to employ centuries-old candle making techniques (suffice it to say that a limited budget also influenced the use of these methods) to create our first product line which was introduced in July of 2005. Today, AQUIESSE continues to use these techniques, although their extensive experience and significantcapital investment allows them to maintain control over quality and consistency. AQUIESSE's proprietary soy wax blend, having taken years to perfect, provides the perfect canvas for their artistic fragrance creations. Made with organic soybean oil and carefully selected lead-free wicks, AQUIESSE's candles are unsurpassed in burn quality and fragrance performance. All of AQUIESSE's products are packaged to convey the quality and commitment that has been put forth in their creation, offering a diverse range of options from the vintage coastal inspired Portfolio collection to the exciting and mystical Exotic collection.

Aquiesse hopes to captivate you with incredible fragrance and encourage you to take time to relax, breathe, dream - and enjoy life. It’s a wonderful world! [Aquiesse]

2009 Trends From the Decorating Diva.com

Here's some insight into Hot 10 Home Design Trends for 2009 (http://www.decoratingdiva.com/).

1. UNIQUELY ME CHIC Personalized and eclectic approach to design. Re-emergence of styles like Hollywood Regency where furniture and decor is mixed and matched to suit the homeowners personality and showcase decor they have collected “along the way”.

2. ARTISTIC LOVE Desire for one-of-a kind items and an appreciation for the artisan, hand-crafted products for the home.

3. PATTERN PRIDE An increasing movement toward Art Deco and Art Noveau inspired shapes and patterns, paisleys, geometrics, floral, botanicals, animal prints and birds.

4. STYLE SHOCK Mosaics and patchworks on everything from soft textiles to furniture. One of my favorites and rather ambitious mix of styles, materials and patterns is the Bellini Chair from Versace Home.

5. LUXURIOUSLY GREEN Silky eco-bedding and other high-end objects get the Green Treatment. Green goes Luxe will be huge for 2009 and beyond with companies like Anna Sova and SDH Linens bringing to market eco-linens that feel like and look like silk.
6.MODERN EMBRACE Not really a new trend, in itself, but rather a continued movement toward contemporary design at home. A fun stylistic twist gaining prominence and becoming “mainstreamed” is the re-interpretation of class period pieces in new , fresh vibrant forms and designs. One personal favorite is Louis XVI Medallion Chair (Gilles Nouhailhac) painted a modern color and wearing an updated 21st century upholstery.

7. FASHIONISTA FINERY Dressmaker details on soft textiles brings the glamour and beauty from the fashion runways home. Accent pillows will be wearing belts, crystals, sequence, 3d floral embellishements and other details that will make the Fashionista in you swoon.

8. DESIGN WITHOUT BORDERS Merging of multi-cultural designs - Inspired from cultures and nations across the globe - with specific focus on China, Russia, Morocco, several Latin American countries and India.

9. LIVE RESPONSIBLY Green, Sustainable and Fair Trade in products for the home. Consumers want more than a “Green” label they want the story behind the product. They want proof that what they buy meets their Green Standard and allows for societal responsibility. One company of several that I like to highlight that produce “Live Responsibly” products is Malaika. Their linens are created from organic cotton that is grown, spun, woven, sewn and embroidered in Egypt by underprivileged women who are taught how to embroider.

10. SANCTUARY HOME Designing and decorating the home in soothing earth inspired colors and creating a serene, secure and happy environment (through design) in which to retreat from the crazy economic upheaval, global conflicts and the multitude of stresses outside the door of your home.

Color Forecasting for 2009

For all of you who don't already know, colors for all things from clothing, textiles, electronics, and basically anything mass produced is often forecasted by the CMG (Color Marketing Group). You might have noticed that a certain shade of pink seems to be popular, or you might have noticed how your scarf from one store matches your sweater from another store, perfectly. It isn't a coincedence! It's the CMG. Their last color forecast was a bit dreary with a bit of grey undertone in each color, however they are predicting a more optomistic future so here's what they have to say:

According to CMG, look for these color trends in 2009:

Purple, Purple, Purple! - Emerging as a hot fashion color last fall, purple is not just a fad -- it's an entrenched trend, strongly influenced by the election. (After all, red plus blue equals purple.) Look for a greyed-out violet that works equally well as an accent or a neutral, as well as redder, plummier purples and bluer-influenced fuchsias in a huge range of products. Purple is 2009’s “must have” color.

Blue is the New Green - Various greens have symbolized "green living” over the last few years, but in 2009 the "green" environmental message is delivered by the color blue. There are watery blues, sky blues and a whole range of blues that now represent our commitment to living on a greener planet.

Cooled-down, Greyed-out Browns and Greys - Complex neutrals satisfy our urge toward classic colors in an economically challenged time. They also bridge the area between black, which seems harsh, and brown, which doesn't seem strong enough.

Yellow for Energy – The neutrals may have greyed, but look for lots and lots of bright vivid yellow to give us energy as we re-build the economy. It's the stand-out accent color for 2009.

Bright Accents from India, China, and Turkey – The exotic has become the familiar. Oranges, turquoises and teals, reds, and yellows will abound in hues from far-away countries that now seem very near. They are the optimistic touches we crave.

White is now a Business Color – Technology has produced amazing new (and very practical) finishes, which helps explain why white is showing up everywhere, even in corporate board rooms. The contrasts are all in the finishes: matte versus gloss; shine and shimmer on reflective surfaces; textured whites versus smooth -- all washable and cleanable. White also represents purity of thought, motive and result – exactly what we want from businesses now.

The Return of the "M" Word - It's mauve. Remember mauve? An old color that looks new again, in dusty violet shades, mauve works as an accent but also serves now as a neutral, punched up by those bright Asian accents (orange, turquoise, teal, red, and yellow.)
